This was 4 years ago and we have had some ABSOLUTE toad stranglin' gully washers since and not a drop one in the barn. Covered the drain tile with another 10 inches or so of gravel then filled the rest with dirt to grade. Dug a pit at each end about 2 to 3 feet deep and filled with more gravel. Placed that in the trench with the holes up and ran it all the way around the three sides and then past the rear of the barn about 20 feet.
I then took some 6 inch white PVC pipe that has the 2 rows of holes in it. We dug down to just below where the floor met the walls and we then put in about 4 or 5 inches of 1 inch gravel.
One of the firemen at work had an excavating business and he had a small JD mid sized excavator and we dug down around the foundation along the front and down both sides of the barn. I would have 6 or more inches of water standing in the dirt floored portion and it stayed wet nearly year round.
Its an old milk/hay barn that my grandpa built back in the 40's and the walls and partial concrete floor were poured with creek gravel concrete, which is a royal pain in the ass to try and drill.
